10 October is celebrated as World Mental Health Day. Mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety, mood swings, and stress has become an issue of public moment, recalling the life of a fast-paced and stressful that we undertake.
Disorders of the soul not only have an impact on our ability to work productively, but also destroy our personal and social life. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), globally more than 300 million people suffer from depression. More than 260 million people live with the anxiety disorder and most live with both of these conditions.
World Mental Health Day celebrated on 10 October each year with the aim to raise awareness about mental health and mobilizing efforts to support better mental health. The celebration was first initiated by the World Federation for Mental Health in 1992, with a mission to enhance knowledge, awareness and advocacy communities around the world regarding mental health.
In Indonesia, as reported by the UGM ( Gadjah Mada University ) page, World Mental Health day is just starting to set in 1993. The mission is brought to respect ODMK ( People with Psychiatric Problems ), expand mental health problems prevention programs, health access closer to the public, extending the coverage of services, and enhance the efforts of mental health optimally.
It is indeed a remarkable mission, but a mission that proclaimed in 1993 was still a mission that has to be fought in the year 2013.
In the age of smart phones as of now, there are still many such communities that Indonesia still lay about mental health. Still more people who ignore the importance of considering, seeking and maintaining mental health and mentally compared to physical health.
Some members of the new society will pay attention to mental health and mental problems, only when they are exposed to mental health and mental disorders.
